Reiterates commitment to full sovereignty

DIMAPUR — The Yung Aung-led NSCN/GPRN (Group I) rejected “the baseless and misguided political remarks by the expelled Angmai group” recently published in the media, stating that “they are least qualified to talk about Naga sovereignty and Naga nationalism.”

In a press release, it alleged that Angmai’s present venture completely negates SS Khaplang’s revolutionary principles. It also asserted that he has chosen a wrong place, a wrong time, and a wrong group of people to reinstate his political career.

Stating that President Yung Aung does not harbour a personal grudge against Angmai, Nyeiton, Langnyei, or anyone else, it mentioned that the differences are solely political. It emphasised that these differences, if left unchecked, could have a colossal negative impact on the people’s struggle.

“Without a shadow of doubt, the bonhomie between these expelled individuals and some habitual defectors is just purely to pursue their own business fantasies and to fulfil the desire of the adversaries. And unfortunately, the desire is to turn the serene atmosphere of eastern Nagaland into a killing field,” it read, adding that it is not surprising that they announced their “decision to hop into the Indian-dictated peace waggon.”

‘Never India’s intention to solve the Naga issue’

Further, the group alleged that the overall policy of India is to continue the suppression of the rights of the Nagas and that it is never India’s intention to solve the Naga issue.

“This peace talk is simply a political tactic to delay the sovereign demand of the Nagas. None of the past talks and agreements have brought peace and stability among Nagas, but more hatred, disunity and division,” it said.

It claimed that India has succeeded in dividing the pro-talk Naga groups one after another and managed to hoodwink these groups into submission. It added that NSCN/GPRN will continue to speak and fight for the truth. It reiterated that its position is full sovereignty—nothing more, nothing less—and that it is prepared to face the worst.

“The NSCN/GPRN will never enter into a peace talk with either India or Myanmar unless on the topic of sovereignty,” it concluded.
