Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) has called off the ongoing agitation for upgrading Shamator sub-division to a district, following an emergency meeting of YTC on Sunday.
It said that the public would lay the matter of upgrading Shamator to a district on the government and it expressed hope for a “Gentlemen Agreement with the state government”.
It further stated that all the Yimkhiung inhabited administrative Hqs. must be incorporated in the event of declaring Shamator a district.
YTC in a press statement also stated that on the request of MLA S Keoshu, the Council suspended the notification served to the Yimkhiung NDPP party functionaries and 58 Shamator-Chessore A/C MLA for en mass resignation.
YTC also reiterated its co-operation to MLA S Keoshu, while the resignation tendered by YTC President Throngso Yimkhiung would stand null and void and resume the office of President, YTC with immediate effect, as appealed by all the Yimkhiung villages and the frontal organisations.
