YSUK holds cultural and literary prog

Kohima, June 13 (EMN): Yimchungrü Students’ Union Kohima (YSUK) organised a cultural and literary session on the theme “Exploring your identity” at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie, on June 10. Addressing the gathering as the speaker, Secretary of Legal Cell & DAC member BJP Nagaland, H Mukam challenged the Union to mould the younger generation towards exploring their identity. He also encouraged the youngsters to uphold the good traditional values and cultural practices while also making use of the traditional wears and also the folklores, which will be the ultimate move towards preserving one’s identity. He also exhorted students to be hard working stating that every successful person has to spent hard time to be an achiever. Personal Secretary to Naiba Konyak, Advisor of Geology & Mining, NBDA & NePED, Ngamlao Konyak also appreciated YSUK for holding the day. He highlighted about the brotherly relation between the Konyak and Yimchunger communities as well as the migration of Tobu area people from Langa. He emphasised on the need for students from Eastern Nagaland areas to strive hard towards achieving success through merit instead of always depending on backward quota. Calling upon the youngsters to be role model for the society, he said a hardworking youth is one of the biggest achievements for any community. Shojila Lachim pronounced the invocation, while folk dance was presented by St. Joseph’s College, special song was presented by L Ümrito and exhibition of modern Yimchungrü wears marked the inaugural session. Various literary competitions including debate on the topic “Role of youth in present Yimchungrü imbroglio,” essay writing, art and quiz were also held. In the essay writing Tsütoho, M Sorito Yim, and Tsisangwo were declared winners, while in the debate Runshito Lims, Hanlula, and Pisangla were declared winners, in quiz Lumrila Yim & M Hokiula, Akokchim & Lethrayam, and Holohon & Latrong were declared winners and in painting Tsükhumla, Tsülithong, and Shahoto M were declared winners.
