YRS launches ‘launchpad education and career fair’

Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) launched the ‘Launchpad Education and Career Fair’ at its office in Kohima on Wednesday.

Launchpad was an initiative of the department of Youth Resources and Sports in partnership with YouthNet and supported by the department of School Education. It is a career guidance and employability skill development programme explicitly designed for students pursuing their 12th standard in all government higher secondary schools across Nagaland, stated an update from the department of Youth Resources and Sports.

The platform would provide access to student details of various education institutions, potential employers and skill development training organisations.

Speaking at the launch event, advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha, thanked the department of Youth Resources and Sports, YouthNet and supporting department School Education for working tirelessly to help the students in their career guidance. He expressed hope that the career guidance programme would improve society to move forward.

On the occasion, the smartphone for meritorious students were awarded to Ethel A Konyak from Government Higher Secondary School, Tizit; Leyang BN Shiu from Government Higher Secondary School, Tuensang; and Ayimwati from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School.

The laptops were awarded to Nithosano Nagi from Jotsoma Government Higher Secondary School and Dina Rai from Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.

The merit students for 100% scholarship were awarded to Rosy Konyak from D Government Higher Secondary School, Mon; Tsarobi from Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire; Muthiam P from Government Higher Secondary School, Noklak; T Chijava from Bautung Government Higher Secondary, Longleng; and Numrangle Newmai from Higher Secondary School, Jalukie.

The best school was awarded to Tizit Government Higher Secondary School, Mon, while the best teacher in-charge was awarded to Chubarenla Imsong from Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng.

The director of YouthNet, Nuneseno Chase, highlighted on the overview of the Launchpad, while the welcome address was delivered by director of YRS, Akumla Chuba, and the vote of thanks was delivered by public information officer, Libemo Jami.
