Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): A befitting farewell programme was organised for retiring commissioner and secretary, department of youth resources and sports, Anenla S. Longchari at Hotel Japfu on Oct. 31.
The retiring bureaucrat, in her farewell speech, said she joined the office of the commissioner in 1982. While sharing some of her past memories, Longchari said that during those days, there was hardly anything to guide the officers as there were no complied set of rules and guidebooks to lead them except the basic training at the ATI. She also narrated how she took help and guidance from her officers and even from her subordinates to perform her official duties.

Giving some suggestions, Longchari said that government employees should create a congenial working environment in the office since they spend a better part of the day inside the office; therefore, she said that the employees should make the office ‘a home away from home’ and also should learn how to adjust themselves with their colleagues.

The advisor of YRS, Zale Neikha, in his speech described the retiring comm. secy. as the“pillar and rock of my fortress”, a guide and a mother like-figure, and an advisor in the business of administration.

Depicting her as ‘a simple, trustworthy, dependable and down to earth person, Neikha said that since Longchari took charge of the office as the commissioner and secretary in Jan. 2018, she changed the working system of administration and the department has been able ‘to achieve soaring height of success’.

Others who spoke on the occasion were director of YRS, Akumla Chuba and joint secretary, YRS, Limawabang Jamir. Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from NCC, Bharat Scouts & Guides, NYKs, DSOs, YROs and the Engineer Wing, the DIPR update.
