DIMAPUR, JANUARY 16

The Yimchungru Public Coordination Committee has denounced the ‘quit notice’ that was served to “Yahkor in 2012 and Kuthur in 2104, abduction of innocent women, beating up of innocent Yimchungrus, burning and damaging Yimchungru houses designed to evict the whole community from Tuensang and terrorizing peace loving citizens.”
In a statement issued on Friday, the committee decried those communities responsible for taking law in own hands.
The committee welcomed the “positive steps towards peace and tranquility in adopting resolutions jointly made by different tribes, sectors, unions on January 10 initiated by Chang Khuli Setshang and Yimchungrus, without any ill-will or malice towards any community.”However, the committee wondered “how the other tribal bodies endorsed the same as all the six resolutions passed are contradictory to the past and present actions carried out by Changs in Tuensang.”
“Was the resolutions arrived at from the core of hearts or made under duress as the smoke has not settled down yet? Take it for real and not just as passing news, the Yimchungru-Changs imbroglio that has been publishing since some years back. Exaggerations will never ever substantiate one’s statement. One may tell a lie but cannot rob off his conscience. How did peace strike the minds of Tuensang people only on 10/01/2015?,” the committee queried.
The press release stated that the “Yimchungrus do not hunt for sympathy but yearn all to experience empathy… we strongly denounce attitude of a particular community above others and taking law into their own hands by issuing quit notices to Yahkor in 2012 and Kuthur in 2104, abduction of innocent women, beating up of innocent Yimchungrus, burning and damaging Yimchungru houses designed to evict the whole community from Tuensang and terrorizing peace loving citizens.”
Stating that the committee was “deadly against those terrorists…armed with sophisticated weapons who waylaid the innocent passengers of Shamator bound Sumo on the evening of January 5 querying to exterminate Yimchungrus. The trenches at C/Saddle are a haven behind these terrorist activities,” the committee stated.
“On exhaustion of our tolerance and having no options left we took to defensive role to counter the suppressing evil that is trying to choke the existence and rights of Yimchungrus,” the Yimchunger organization added.
