Dimapur, Nov. 17(EMN):
Director of Dimapur Airport, Mughavi Zhimo has warned youths about scam recruitments in the name of Airport Authority of India (AAI), stating that there are many scammers who are trying to lure young people ‘as everyone is looking for job.’

Zhimo informed that they have encountered four such cases which have been informed to the police and the victims have also lodged first information reports (FIR).

He asserted that when there is any recruitment, the AAI advertises it in the newspaper and in their official website. He shared that many cases have been reported to him and some people have even been duped lakhs of rupees and given false ticket, ‘and only when they come to airport to fly they realise everything is fake but it is too late.’ He stated that for any recruitment the AAI will never ask for money.

He shared that the ‘scammers would post advertisements in the name of AAI asking them to apply as there are vacancies, and after applying, they would ask the victims to transfer money as registration fee, training fee and uniform fees.’

Zhimo stated that the scammers would even go to the extent of giving out appointment letters to the victims.” These scammers call up people to apply and then they are called for online interview, and then asked them to transfer money for registration and training fee on the pretext that they are being selected,” he said.

He informed that the victims are even issued fake flight tickets and appointments letter containing the logo of the AAI and airlines.

“Advertisement for recruitment to executive level posts in the AAI are published in the national paper and also at the AAI’s official website and advertisement for non-executive or union level posts are published in regional papers, and appointment is never done at the local level nor the recruitment process outsourced to private parties, but do their own recruitment process,” he informed.

He also stated that the airport authority frequently issues circulars and notice to the public through social media cautioning them to be aware of such scams. “The scammers mostly operate from other states,” he said.
Zhimo also informed that for official recruiting, as per the government rules the candidates who apply for interviews are given travel expenses, and therefore asked them to cross check the website and also advertisements in papers before applying.

Cargo complex to be operational soon

Zhimo further informed that Dimapur airport will soon start cargo processing from the terminal building. He stated that the cargo complex is also completed but they are waiting for some equipment and that they have already submitted a letter to the bureau of civil aviation security and is expecting the approval ‘very soon.’ He informed that the cargo operation would start as soon as it is approved, and stated that this will help the local entrepreneurs and the farmers if they want to export goods. The government of India is also giving 50% subsidy on freight charge, he said. Zhimo also added that taking the advantage of the lockdown, they have improved the toilet facilities at the airport.

IAF to start air exercise in Dimapur from November 18

Zhimo informed that Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct exercise in Dimapur from November 18. He informed that there would be fighter aircrafts flying in and around Dimapur.

“This is a normal annual IAF exercise because Dimapur is identified as one of the airport to be used in cases of contingency,” he stated. He asked the people not to panic or create speculations, as it is an annual thing.

He said that similar exercise is been carried out at other identified airports. The exercise will not disrupt schedules civilian flights, he added.
