Dimapur, June 1: The Tongdentsüyong youth fellowship of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church conducted a workshop on May 28 in Mokokchung town. The workshop was conducted with the theme ‘Creative Reflections...His handiwork.’ The event was a platform for ‘educational art’ through which the organizers hoped would encourage youths to ‘unearth their talents.’
The organizers envisaged creating useful products ‘for self-reliance understanding the true value of art’ through the event, the organizers stated in a press release issued to the media this week.
The resource persons for the program were Temjensangla and Kilenwala who assisted in working art. “Cerebellum creations” were guided by Toshilemba and Arsashi Ozukum.
Also, the Fellowship injected opinions of the participants. Quoting one of the participants, Toshilemba, said to be a glass engraver: “I feel so pleased and honoured working with the youths. Seeing their energy, sincerity, commitment and excitement to learn new skills motivated me to put more effort in my works.”
Around 70 youths attended the event. A number of girls also joined the crafting class and tried their hands at chiseling shapes out of wood.
A member of the fellowship, Temjensangla, was quoted as saying thus: “The best time to form good habits and learn
new skills is in our youth. We should learn how to become self-sufficient which gives us a way to feel connected within a disconnected society. When we are self-reliant, we use the blessings and abilities God has given us to care for our self and our family and to find solutions for our own problems. “
The Fellowship stated in the press release a commitment of faith in effort: “The Lord has commanded us not to be idle. Idleness can lead to inappropriate behavior, damaged relationships and sin. Heavenly Father has given us gifts and talents and knows what we are capable of achieving. Let us seek His help and guidance as we work to achieve our goals.”
The organizers assured that the next edition of the event would be more productive.
