Dimapur, Feb. 12 (EMN): Endowed with abundant natural resources and conducive climatic condition and other facilities, president of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (Sapo), Kevipodi Sophie, challenged the youth to take up agriculture and farming activities by incorporating modern scientific technology for self-employment and economic sustainability.
Sophie stated this during the 1st presidential meeting 2022 of the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (Sayo) held at Sapo hall in Jakhama village under Kohima district on Saturday. Expressing concern on the lack of employment, income generating sources and financial sustenance which pose a threat to the generations ahead, Sophie has voiced a requirement for exposure and guidance for the youth.
In this regard, Sophie called upon the youth to explore avenues for self-employment by taking up scientific agriculture and farming activities or entrepreneurship for their economic sustainability. He also urged to revive the traditional practice of cultivation to conserve water and retain the land fertility.
He also urged the youth leaders to give priority in imparting skill training to generate sustainable force for the future. He further advised the youth to maintain peace and tranquility in the region.
The vice president of Angami Public Organisation (APO), Zadeho Rikha, dwelling on the history of Kezoltsa and Dzükou Valley, reiterated on the occupation and ownership of the land since time immemorial. While the Tenyimi Public Organisation (TPO) has endorsed addressing the issue in toto, he called upon the youth leaders to defend and protect the land with far sight and agility.
On the occasion, Sayo president Metekhrielie Mejura delivered the presidential address. The programme was led by its legal advisor, Zasitsolie Beio, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by its general secretary, Metevizo Sophie.
