Dimapur, Oct. 6 (EMN): The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Peren, Keyirangding Hegui, has advised the youngsters to be well conversant and safeguard their cultural values, which gives one’s identity and also encouraged to maintain proper documentation of tradition and culture.

The ADC stated this at the one-day tribal festival organised by department of Art and Culture at Peren town stadium on October 3 on the theme “Igniting cultural traditions.” He lauded the department of Art and Culture, Peren, for organising such a mega event on culture and traditions.

While highlighting the uniqueness of the Nagas and the importance on how to put a price tag on one’s culture, he encouraged the people to preserve and protect the tradition for prosperity, stated a DIPR report.

Report stated that folklore on widow and sunlight was recited by Idwaheina and Iheigongbe, while the Peren Students’ Union (PSU), Peren Village Heruima, Jalukie (B) Heraka youth dance troupe, and cultural troupe of Government Higher Secondary School, Peren, presented cultural songs and dances.

Dr. Baheungausile chaired the programme while the assistant research officer, Moses Newmai, delivered the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by the district cultural officer of Peren, Y Akila Quinker.
