DIMAPUR — An entrepreneurship and skill development programme focusing on banana fibre extraction and handicrafts training commenced on Wednesday at Town Council Hall, Phek Hq.

A DIPR report mentioned that the programme was jointly organised by Phek Police, Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre (NTTC), and Phek Town Youth Society, with the aim of empowering educated youth in their quest for employment opportunities.

Dr. Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Phek, inaugurated the programme, and in her inaugural address, she urged all participants to prioritise hard work and seek a living through entrepreneurship rather than turning to drugs or intoxication.

Kaur emphasised that entrepreneurship can provide significant opportunities for educated youth and encouraged them to form teams with their friends to engage in joint business ventures. She said that such efforts can contribute to a more peaceful society.

Nisevor Niphi, an NTTC instructor, discussed the significance of the programme and explained NTTC’s goals. During the training session, a demonstration of banana fibre extraction and handicrafts making was held, allowing participants to gain practical knowledge.

This initiative seeks to provide educated youth with valuable skills in banana fibre extraction and handicrafts, allowing them to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities and create a better future for themselves and their community. The training duration is six weeks.
