Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Expounding on the ‘unimaginable potential’ hidden within the youth, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, urged the youth leaders to broaden their vision and contribute towards further development of the society.

Yhome said this while addressing the Dimapur District Youth Convention 2016-17 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dimapur, on March 29 at Tourist Lodge.

Citing history of human civilisation, Yhome said ‘it is time to deeply introspect where we came from and where we want to head.’ He regretted that Nagas are fighting among themselves for small things whereas people in other parts of the world are in space sacrificing their lives with a vision for the sake of humanity.

He felt that climate change is one area where youth should seriously take up as well as on the system and practices of elections and electioneering in the State. He questioned on the contribution of youth to cleanse the system. The DC further urged the youth to go back to villages to educate. Stating that 80% of the Nagas still live in rural areas, the DC said ‘we will not move forward if they do not revive the society.’

UNV-DYC, NYK, Dimapur, K Phyobemo Lothahighlighted on the purpose of conducting the youth convention, which according to him was to enable the youth to come together to share the experiences and programmes. The function was chaired by youth volunteer, Mhono Ngulie, while the vote of thanks was proposed by the youth volunteer, Kelechuto Kin.
