DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan on Saturday said that the youth are the torchbearers of a new India and it is their creativity, energy and passion that will drive the country forward.

Addressing the ‘Visionary conclave – shaping the future of Viksit Bharat @2047’ held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima, the governor said that even as the citizens celebrate the country’s achievements, they must also look towards the future with a sense of responsibility and resolve.

“As we march forward into what we proudly call the ‘Amrit Kaal,’ the decisions we make and the direction we choose will sculpt the destiny of our beloved Bharat Mata. This is a time of unprecedented opportunity, where the synergy between innovation, patriotism, and hard work will drive our journey to becoming a global leader,” Ganesan said.

Expressing gratitude and admiration to all the change makers and accomplished individuals present in the conclave, he said that their relentless efforts and contributions toward nation-building have been commendable.

He said that whether in business, commerce, arts, entrepreneurship, journalism, or any other field, their dedication has significantly propelled the nation forward.

“They embody the spirit of Bharat Mata, and today, we felicitate and celebrate them. Nation-building is a collective endeavour. Each one of us has a role to play, so let us work towards creating an inclusive and sustainable future where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive,” the governor said.

Ganesan also urged the gathering to embrace the spirit of patriotism not just as love for the motherland, but as a commitment to contribute positively to your country.

“Patriotism is not just a sentiment; it is a profound responsibility. Our students and youth must carry this torch of patriotism fervently. Embrace this responsibility with pride and unwavering dedication,” he added.

He went on to mention that many of the country’s freedom fighters including Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, VD Savarkar, Lala Lajpat Rai etc., expressed a deep desire to be reborn as free citizens of a united, strong and prosperous India.

“Today, the youth of India stand as a living embodiments of the dreams and sacrifices made by those valiant heroes. As our freedom fighters made the ultimate contribution to the nation, our youth now bear a moral responsibility to honour their legacy and work towards the vision of Amrit Kaal and Viksit Bharat by embodying their spirit of nationalism and nation building,” the Governor said.

Further, the governor said that as the country embarks on a remarkable journey towards a developed India by 2047, the citizens should be guided by the principles of unity, hard work, and unwavering patriotism.

“Together, we can transform our aspirations into reality and create an India that is prosperous, equitable, and a beacon of hope for the world,” he said.
