Youngsters CC win first open Super Six cricket tournament

Kohima, March 14 (EMN): Youngsters CC emerged champions of the first open Super Six cricket tournament after defeating NV Press CC by 15 runs in the finals played at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School playground in Kohima on Sunday.
Playing a competitive final match,Youngsters managed to defend the target of 52 runs set by them as they didn’t allow NV Press to score more than 37 runs in the allotted six overs while chasing the mark.
Earlier, Youngsters defeated BRTF (A) by two wickets while NV Press beat XL with 16 runs in the first and second semi-final matches respectively before entering the final.
Winning the final match, Youngsters fetched a cash reward of INR 10,000 while NV Press received INR 5,000 as the runner-up with citations in the order. Bishal of Youngsters was declared the man of the match.
The convener of the tournament, Vikato Wotsami while thanking Raju Roy for sponsoring the first prize and others for their contributions, said that the support rendered by them would have a “great impact” in improving the standard of the cricket game in Nagaland.
United Brothers, the organisers of the tournament, also acknowledged the concerned authority for allowing them to use the ground for conducting the game and the players for adhering to the discipline of the game.
It reminded the teams that winning and losing is part of the game.
Hiketo Aye, secretary of United Brothers, said that all together 22 teams from within and around Kohima district competed in the two-day tournament.
In the exhibition match, United Brothers defeated Sponsor which was played after the final match.
