Dimapur, Dec. 3 (EMN): Young Leaders Connect has announced the ‘Northeast Young Heroes Award 2020’ to honour people, who in their specific line of work excellently continued to inspire leadership, instil hope and faith for the society amid the pandemic situation.

The ‘Northeast Young Heroes Awards 2020’ is powered by Eastmojo, a leading news and content platform of Northeast with an average monthly viewership of 10 lakh+ and 3 lakh+ social media followers. However with the threat of the pandemic still prevalent, the award would be a virtual one, an update from Young Leaders Connect informed on Thursday.

The various categories of the awards would include healthcare, administration, tourism, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, music and entertainment, education, sports, sustainable development, and Global Northeast Indian.

Young Leaders Connect has also decided to involve communities to participate, nominate their heroes and vote for them. It would be the first of its kind award where an eminent jury and the people of the Northeast would choose the young heroes who have made a difference in 2020.

It has extended invitation to nominate a northeastern for the award or register to be part of the awards by logging on to www.neyoungheroes.com. The last date for nominees has been set on December 10.

It mentioned that Young Leaders Connect is a landmark initiative of YouthNet that provides a common platform for young leaders and achievers from the Northeast launched in 2011 at Kohima. Young Leaders Connect is an annual conclave where young change makers and leaders from diverse fields like business, politics, academia, sports, music and culture come together, put their heads and hearts together to plan where they would like to see India vis-à-vis North East in the future, plan a roadmap, and strategize on interventions at the grassroots and policy level, the statement read.
