Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): A young girl attempted suicide by jumping off a building in Dimapur on Saturday afternoon, reportedly after failing to clear her exams, said the city police.
According to the police, the teenager jumped off from a building near St Mary's Montessori Higher Secondary School, Nyamo Lotha road in Dimapur. Fortunately, she landed on the cable wires of utility poles stretched along the side of the road before bouncing off.
She has been admitted to a hospital in Dimapur and is said to be ‘out of danger’.
The additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime), Relo Aye, told Eastern Mirror that the young girl was studying in class 9 and the reason for taking the extreme step was reportedly due to failing her exams. She, therefore, took the ‘abrupt decision’ to jump off the building, he added.
An alleged video of the girl jumping off the building has been widely circulated on social media platforms on Saturday.
