Yitachu urges students to avail govt facilities

Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): State Education minister, Yitachu today urged upon the students to derive best education provided by the State government and become responsible citizens of the State.

Yitachu was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 18th LSU Martyr’s Trophy which got underway at Wokha local ground. Comparing the quality of education during his time, Yitachu said students today are lucky to have best teachers with the best facilities. He encouraged the students to pursue studies with determination in order to achieve success in life.

While urging the students to take part in sporting events in order to keep themselves physically fit, he advised them against neglecting their studies.

Earlier in the day, education minister also visited Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, and had interaction with the principal and the faculty staff. After inspecting the school infrastructure, he assured to extend assistance for renovation of the school building which are in deplorable conditions.

Meanwhile, the school Principal Mrs. Emilo Patton thanked the minister for the assurance towards the welfare of the school.

Students from different schools turned up to show solitary to the two slain heroes, who were killed in police firing during a silent protest on April 14, 1977. The invocation prayer was said by Chumbenthung Murry, Associate Youth Director of WTBC. A short speech was delivered by LSU president and a special traditional song was presented by the students of Isaiah Ability High School. The oath taking and introduction of team was administered by LSU secretary of games & sports.
