Yitachu releases books written by Dr. Bweyhunle
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 20: Three books written by Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, Associate Professor of Kohima College, was released today in a programme held in the college auditorium with the minister for School Education and SCERT, Yitachu, as the chief guest.
The books were titled ‘A complete book on education in modern India for Bachelor of Arts Degree Course V Semester, Nagaland University’; ‘A complete guide book on educational measurement and evaluation BA (Honours) education IV Semester Nagaland University;’ and ‘A complete guide book on psychological bases of education Bachelor of Arts Degree Course 1st semester, second edition, Nagaland University’.
Appreciating the author, Yitachu said to acquire knowledge in any given society and working system, there always has to be someone to take the role of leadership adding the role taken up by her was a much needed thing in our society today. While pointing out that SCERT could develop textbooks upto Class V till today, the minister said developing of textbooks for the rest of the classes are given out to publishers. He, however, lamented that in the process, certain royalties were transferred to the publishers, which otherwise could have been transferred to the state ex-chequer through SCERT.
In this regard, he has urged the present generation to ponder and speculate as to where things had gone wrong with no visible progress and development till today. He also pressed on the need for researchers, innovative ideas and invention activities, which at present, is lacking in the Naga society.
Though the state literacy rate is beyond the national average rate, Yitachu regretted that the state is yet to achieve quality education in its true sense. Citing examples of employees refusing to go in far flung places as well as refusing to take up their assigned responsibility, he said these kind of attitudes reflected that ‘we are not sincere and honest to our profession.’ He queried ‘how can our society progress and move forward?’
The minister asserted that education coupled with knowledge, wisdom and positive outlook of the present generation could bring about transformation to the Naga society, which today he said, is infested with dishonesty, jealousy, laziness, excuses and hatred.
While pointing out that though there are enough resources such as hydro powers sufficient enough even to export, rich depos maintained that Nagas are too laidback to take the trouble for producing and would rather beg others to give it to us.
Stating that developmental need will keep on increasing, he said people should stop criticising (which is easy), but rather come up with alternative model and ideas for the progress and development of the State. He, therefore, urged the students to wake up to the need to bring about changes in the society by practicing and live by the ‘truth’ as a guiding principle throughout their life.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khing said the books were published with the sole purpose to help the students not only to score good marks but enhance their knowledge through easy learning and acquire practical education too.
She also maintained that it was not for monetary benefits but designed for competitive exams and to serve the needs of both the teachers and the students. She expressed hope that her books would serve its purpose for the benefit of all.
It may be mentioned here that Dr. Bweyhunle Khing has, to her credit, of authoring 5 books and recipient of two national awards. She had published the second edition of ‘A complete guide book on Psychological bases of Education Bachelor of Arts Degree Course 1st semester’ on demand by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to keep her book in all the libraries in the rural areas across the country.
The programme was chaired by Associate Professor and Head of Department of English, Moanungla Kevichusa, while the Pastor of UBC Kohima invoked God’s blessings, special number was presented by Day Spring and the vote of thanks was proposed by the vice principal, KCK, Khrienuo.
