Yisemyong youth trained on poultry management

Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, organised a six-day skill training of rural youth (Stry) on poultry management at Yisemyong from May 5 to the 11th. The programme was conducted in association with State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Sameti), Medziphema, and the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (Manage), Hyderabad.

Delivering the keynote address during the inaugural programme, Dr. Keviletsu Khate, senior scientist and head of KVK Mokokchung, highlighted the importance of skill development. He also explained about the objectives of Stry and the relevance of skill development in poultry management and further encouraged the trainees to make the most out of the training, an update from KVK Mokokchung stated. 

It stated that different topics including basics of poultry production, types and systems of poultry production, access to information and using ICT, ethos of veterinary practices in poultry production and management, entrepreneurship in poultry farming were covered during the six-day training.

Besides, the trainees were taught on planning a sustainable poultry enterprise, poultry marketing, beyond production – opportunities in small scale processing and value addition, agro-metrology and it importance in poultry production and challenges and opportunities in times of pandemics – special reference to Covid-19.

It added that a total of 15 females participated in the training were given certificates on completion of the training.
