Yimkhiung Women Organisation seeks speedy trial in Reny Wilfred case, citing prolonged delays, victim trauma and justice concerns
DIMAPUR — Demanding an end to prolonged legal delays, the Yimkhiung Women Organisation (YWO) has urged Nagaland government to ensure the expeditious trial of IAS officer Reny Wilfred in an alleged sexual harassment and molestation case.
In a representation submitted to the commissioner of Nagaland through the deputy commissioner of Shamator, the organisation sought immediate intervention to expedite the trial in the case involving the alleged serial sexual harassment and molestation of one of its bona fide members and other women.
The representation referred to the case initially registered at Noklak Police Station in 2021 under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which was subsequently re-registered with the State Crime Police Station. It also cited the ongoing court proceedings in the matter.

The YWO alleged that despite the gravity of the offences, the trial has progressed slowly, allowing the accused to remain at liberty while the survivor continues to endure mental trauma and social stigma.
It further contended that prolonged delays weaken the victim's faith in the justice delivery system and increase the possibility of witness intimidation and tampering with evidence, particularly given the accused's influential position.
The YWO appealed to the state government to take immediate cognisance of the matter and ensure that justice is delivered without further delay.
