Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): In view of the forthcoming elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, a joint meeting of the Yimchungrü Tribal Council, Yimchungrü Baptist Borü Amukhungto, Shamator Town Public Forum, Shamator Town Students Union and Yimchungberü (women) Arihako Shamator Town was conducted on Feb. 9. The meeting resolved upon adhering to ‘guidelines’ for free and fair voting during election. This was informed in a press release issued to the media on Sat. by the president of the YTC, and executive secretary and mission secretary of the YBBA.During the meeting, the house resolved the following guidelines in order to ensure that political parties are well informed and to control the movement and activities which may be detrimental to our society. 1. Carrying of arms, alcohol, drugs or any intoxicated items will be strictly prohibited.2. No party / group shall damage any personal or public properties, blocking roads or causing inconvenience to general commuters during campaigns. If any damage occurs, individual in concern will be responsible for the damage and will be forwarded for arrest and kept till election is over.3. Exchange of unacceptable languages detrimental to the fabric of Yimchungrü society, procession, propagating ill against other parties, threatening of life, etc are strictly prohibited. Befitting action will be initiated upon the defaulting individual as per deemed fit.4. Setting up of one party-one camp is encouraged, as many camps may incur unnecessary expenditures and create anti-social elements.5. Use of force or money for vote is strictly prohibited.6. As per the advice of NBCC, all the political parties are appealed to submit their party manifesto in written form to the YTC & YBBA office for evaluation and to see that the manifesto is implemented after a candidate is successfully elected.7. Churches under YBBA are requested to pray for the conduct of election in peaceful and conducive manner.
