Mokokchung, Nov. 16: Yimchalu village in Mokokchung district celebrated its 10th anniversary on Nov. 16.
The village was established in 2007. It is about 16 km away from Mokokchung town. The village is known among the locals for its recreation spots, organic vegetables and fruits; tea, fishing and livestock.
During a short program at Yimchalu, ‘parent village’ Sungratsu encouraged Yimchalu villagers to live peacefully ‘without fear and doubts’ and to work toward making the community progressive.
Within a period of 10 years, the village has grown to 112 households. Progressive farmers are settling in the area permanently and establishing farms and recreational infrastructure because of easy availability of water and fertile soil.
The secretary of the village, Wati Walling, informed that the village had started exporting orange, litchi, cardamom, bananas, tea, seasonal fruits, long beans, piggery, poultry etc in large scale to other districts and neighbouring Assam too.
