Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): Participating in the motion of thanks on the president’s address to both houses of the Parliament, the lone member of Lok Sabha from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi urged upon the government of India to expedite and bring conclusion to the two-decades-old Naga political negotiations.
According to a press release from the MP’s office on Tuesday, Yepthomi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for signing the framework agreement “within a short time of taking over office and hoped that the negotiations will be concluded before the end of the tenure of 17th Lok Sabha.”
He also appealed to the prime minister and the home minister to have thorough deliberations with chief ministers of all Northeast states on the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) before it is amended in the Parliament.
“He stated that people of Northeast region have the apprehension that CAB will open the floodgates for immigrants from neighbouring countries to come and reside in India, particularly the Northeast region. The MP also stressed on the importance of the road sector in the region and asked the government to give more emphasis to it since all states in the region majorly depended on road transport,” it stated.
