Yepthomi seeks details of SARDP, airport projects in Lok Sabha
Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi has raised queries about the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP) projects in the state and upgrade of Dimapur Airport, via Unstarred Questions in the ongoing Parliament session.
A press release from the MP on Thursday stated that he had asked for the details of the award for construction of SARDP road in Phek, Zunheboto, Longleng and Mon districts in Nagaland from the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
The details provided by the minister were:
“The terms and conditions of agreement to complete the road constructions were that all SARDP-NE projects in the state of Nagaland are being implemented by NHIDCL on EPC mode of contract and as per the contract the completion period for all projects is 1095 days from the appointed date. There are also provisions for subletting works as per contract agreement; however, there is no such permission given by the NHIDCL for sub-letting of work for the above mention projects in Nagaland,” it stated.
The MP also enquired about works to upgrade the Dimapur Airport from the Minister of State in-charge of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri.
According to him, Puri replied that the upgrade/development of airports is a continuous process. “He also stated that the Airports Authority of India had strengthened the runway, taxiway and apron including construction of isolation bay with link taxiway at Dimapur Airport. Also it was conveyed to the MP that the state government had request the government of India to develop an alternate airport for Kohima,” the statement read.
