In continuation with the observation of ‘Year of Water Conservation 2013’, the technical staffs of the district soil conservation officer of Tuensang and sub-divisional headquarters of Noklak and Shamator are undertaking an awareness campaign among the rural populace. The campaign focuses on conservation of the fast-depleting water resources. The sub divisional officer (soil) of Noklak said that the DSCO visited Nokyan village on November 5 along with officials of the agriculture department for ATMA training. They talked to 100 farmers on the issue of water conservation.
The DSCO also visited Tuensang village, Hakchang village and Kejok village on November 9, and Yakor village on November 12 encouraging conservation of water resources. As a means of reaching out to more people, the department has undertaken the task of displaying banners with water conservation slogans such as “Water is Life: Save Water, Save Life”, “Let Soil and Water Walk, not Run” “Wherever there is Water, There is Life: Conserve!”, “Conserve Water, Our Life’s on the Brink” etc. at prominent locations of the town for wider dissemination.
The observation of ‘Year of Water Conservation’ will culminate on November 19, for which, every village has been informed to clean the traditional wells and ponds in their respective villages.
