Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): In line with the Year Of Construction Workers (YOCW), six-day skill development programme on construction work for 50 youths got underway at Kiphire Public ground, on June 12. The programme is being organised by Government of Nagaland Directorate of Skill Development Employment & Entrepreneurship in collaboration with YouthNet and Zynorique Initiative Society.
Addressing the inauguration programme, Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro said in places like Kohima and Dimapur there are many construction labourers from outside the state, but places like Kiphire which is far may not find labourers due to distance. Therefore, he advised the participants to learn sincerely and earn a livelihood through the training. Stating that our forefathers were honest and earn their livelihood through dignity of labour, he lamented that today’s generation have lost the ethics of the forefathers. He called upon the trainees to earn their livelihood through honest means and hard work.
Pointing out the fact that Nagas wants to become rich overnight and don’t consider few amount of cash as money and look only for bigger amount, DC cited that a drop of water makes mighty ocean. To which he asked the trainers to be positive with what they are doing as everything has a process. Further, he expressed hope that the training bear fruit.
Richard from Zynorique Initiative Society said this is the 4th district that the team has been covering and informed that the course will be included in the schools’ curriculum in coming years. He also assured trainees that at the end of the training session, Zynorique Initiative Society and YouthNet will find job placement to work with contractors in housing or highway construction works.
Employment officer Tuensang i/c of Kiphire district, Tsase sangtam, who also chair the program, expressed gratitude to the visiting team.
