Yanshalo nets five goals as KK blank Ailiüng Kon; Orion beat DEF Kma on Day-1

It was Yanshalo Kemp’s scoring day to have contributed five out of the eight goals netted by Kohima Komets against Ailiüng Kon in the inaugural match of 19th Classic Cup organized by Classic Club Kohima under the theme ‘Together we can soar” here at Local Ground.Playing the first match of the tourney, Kohima Komets humiliated Ailiüng Kon by 8-0 with Kemp (21) scoring five goals, and making it the first hat-trick of the tourney.
It was Kivi Zhimomi (7) opening the flood gates for the team in the 5th minute swiftly dribbling the ball through the weak defence line and surpassing into the nets. Kemp scored the second and third goal in the 12th and 20th minute to be disturbed with fourth goal by Captain Tingnyek Konyak (15).
But, Kemp achieved the hat-trick 9 minutes after the first half and also scored his fourth goal, sixth for the team within the next one minute. His fifth goal and seventh for the team came in the 51st minute while substitute player Jame Kithan (21) sealed the score board with the eight goal in the 58th minute.
Earlier, Chingmei (6) missed two scoring chances for Ailiüng Kon while the teammates were unable to adjust to water clogged field due to inclement weather. Even the first half of the match was not purely visible to the players with fog filling the surmounting the ground.
In a close-shave second match of the day, Orion Football Club defeated DEF Kohima by 5-4 via tie-breaker as the teams were locked in 1-1 draw during the stipulated 70 minutes play.
Orion FC scored first through Chizsie Nyosou (9) in the 8th minute while DEF Kohima managed to find the equalizer through a penalty spot kick conversion by Vizakie Angami three minutes before the half-time.
Neither side managed to surpass into the nets in the 35 minute second half of the match.
The tie-breaker favoured Orion FC as four of them managed to beat rival custodian while only three DEF Kohima found the net.
Earlier, gracing the inaugural function as the chief guest, Additional Director (HoD), Printing & Stationery, Sahu Yiese declared the tourney open and also exhorted the players to be dedicated and disciplined to achieve greater heights as professionals.
The tourney, which will go on till September 5, carries a cash award of Rs. One Lakh with trophy and citation for the champions while runners-up will get Rs. 40,000 with trophy and citations alongside other individual prizes have also been earmarked.
