Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): MLA and chairman of DPDB, Kiphire, T Yangseo Sangtam, visited Pungro town and held a meeting with the administration, medical team, frontline workers, public leaders and NGOs at GA Rest House, Pungro town on June 15.
Addressing the gathering, Yangseo urged the citizens not to believe in false information about the Covid vaccine but encouraged them to avail the opportunity. He also called upon the gathering to educate people and spread the importance of the vaccine.
He also inspected the ongoing road repairing works connecting Pungro to Mimi, Likimro, Amikiuro, Mutenkhong, Mimi, Khongjiri, Longkhimvong, Tsurevong, Khonsa, Salomi and Luthur.
The MLA also donated PPE kits, masks and 100 bags of rice to the daily wage earners affected by the lockdown.
Earlier on June 14, the Kiphire district task force (DTF) held a review meeting on the progress of Covid vaccination drive in district wherein Yangseo has appreciated the frontline workers, administration, police, medical department and civil society organisations for working round the clock in the fight against Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic, an update from Kiphire DTF stated.
Asserting the importance of vaccination, Sangtam appealed to the people not to be swayed away by baseless rumours and encouraged them to come forward and take the vaccine for the safety of oneself, family, friends and society. He also called upon the church and community leaders to educate and spread awareness about the importance of taking vaccines.
Sangtam also donated N-95 masks, PPE and medicine to DTF and provided 500 bags of rice to daily wage labourers to 11 wards in Kiphire town.
