Yachem village declared ‘plastic free’
Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Health minister S Pangnyu Phom and former NPSC chairman Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung have declared Yachem village in Longleng district as ‘Green, Organic and Plastic Free’ and planted decorative tree saplings at Langto Park on October 26.
The declaration was made during the 8th session of Phom Gazetted Officers’ Association (PGOA) held at Langto Park in Yachem village hosted by Yachem gazetted officers in the presence of its president and joint director of agriculture, B Nyenghong Phom.
In the first session, president of Phom People’s Council (PPC) Chingan Phom and health minister S Pangnyu Phom exhorted the members while Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung made a presentation on ‘Visionary leader,’ wherein he challenged the officers to live a life worth to be called an officers and to utilise all God gifted potentialities for the betterment of humanity. Special number was presented by Yachem Students’ Union, while Phom folk song was presented by Anuti Lungla Yachem.
About 250 delegates and officers attended the first session. Among other dignitaries who were present included deputy commissioner, Longleng, John Tsalise Sangtam; superintendent of police, Longleng, Yangba Konyak and ADC Longleng Temsuwati. A one minute silent prayer was observed in paying homage to departed souls of two members namely Dr. Tia Phom and Kam Mukho.
A press release issued by PGOA vice president, S Chanlei Angh stated that the technical session was marked with adoption of resolutions. During the session, the members approved the association’s constitution, its logo and motto. The members also resolved to change the nomenclature from Phom Lungvan Pangthai to Phom Gazetted Officers’ Association.
The house further accepted the invitation of Yongam village council to host the 9th session of the association at Shingphang project site.
