DIMAPUR — In an effort to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and improve public service delivery, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Home and Border Affairs, Yanthungo Patton, inaugurated the office of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Pungro town under Kiphire district on Friday.


An update from office of the deputy chief minister stated that the newly established facility is expected to strengthen policing infrastructure, improve coordination among law enforcement agencies and ensure swift, accessible and efficient responses to public needs.

The programme began with a guard of honour and unveiling of a monolith by the deputy chief minister.


Speaking at the occasion, Patton commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders in making the project a reality, stressing that the office would greatly benefit the people of the district by ensuring law and order, security and public trust.


The event was attended by S Kiusumew Yimchunger, MLA and advisor of Home Guard & Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services, Relief & Rehabilitation, as the guest of honour.


Videlaile Zashumo, Inspector General of Police (ADM); Temsuwati Longkumer, deputy commissioner of Kiphire; Chinese Chakhesang, Superintendent of Police, Kiphire; Disani Newmai, additional SP of Kiphire; Makezho, executive chairman of Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC); Nelizho Tep, ADC of Pungro; Khrusuothu Nyuthe, commandant of 14th IRB; and former minister V Kashiho Sangtam also attended the inaugural programme.


The programme concluded with a folk song performance by Yimkhiung Liperü Arih Ako.


Later, Patton also attended a public meeting in Pungro, where he engaged with local stakeholders and listened to their concerns and suggestions.
