Xuvihe students learn about health, Child Rights at seminar

Dimapur, May 3 (EMN) : A local welfare agency, Childline of Dimapur, conducted a seminar for students of standard-9 and standard-10 of Xuvihe Memorial School at Xuvihe colony in Dimapur on April 29.
Aligha V Yeptho, counsellor at Childline, moderated the session, a note from the organisers informed on Tuesday. She took a session on Child Rights and talked about the “present scenario of the violation of Child Rights in our state.”
The second session was moderated by Imnawangla, a social work student of MLCU in Shillong. “She spoke regarding sex education and focused on good and bad touch which was demonstrated by her fellow interns,” the updates stated. It included a short video on sexual abuse to “widen the students’ understanding on the topic and help them differentiate between good and bad touch,” the organisers said.
The third session was on health and hygiene moderated by Anoka, another social work student of MLCU. He stressed on the importance of healthy living and shared few tips and techniques on how children can keep themselves clean and healthy, the updates stated. Childline planned to stress on health and hygiene “as it was the theme of the school for that month,” the press release stated. The session ended with distribution of pamphlets for reference.
The principal of the institution, Achumo Khuvung, expressed gratitude to the organisation for taking the initiative to help and create awareness among the children “which stands at the epitome of importance at this stage of their growth,” the press release stated.
