Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi, on Thursday unveiled three new smartphones, the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, and Redmi Note 12 Explorer edition in China.
Both the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ models have 6.67-inch OLED displays with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and up to 900nits of brightness. Their specifications are essentially identical.
Both phones include the Dimensity 1080 chipset and come pre-installed with the MIUI 13 custom skin built on top of Android 12. Four different models of the Redmi Note 12 Pro are available: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is available in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB configurations.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro sports three camera sensors on the back: an 8MP UW lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with f/1.88 aperture, 6P Lens, and OIS. It sports a 16MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calls.
In contrast, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ boasts a triple camera setup on the rear, including a 200MP Samsung HPX main sensor with an f/1.65 aperture, a 7P lens, an ALD coating, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Additionally, there is a 2MP macro lens and an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor. The front of the phone sports a 16MP sensor for selfie photos and video calls.
The new Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition shares almost the same specifications as the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ like a 6.67-inch OLED display, Dimensity 1080 SoC and a 200MP main camera etc. However, the Explorer edition comes with a smaller 4,300mAh battery and supports 210W fast charging.
The vanilla Redmi Note 12 model features a 6.67-inch Samsung OLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset and is available up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The Redmi Note 12 comes with a dual camera setup including a 48MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP shooter on the front of the device for selfie duties. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. Similar to its siblings, the device comes pre-installed with MIUI 13.
