[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has sought reply from the director of school education with regard to the department’s advertisement calling for 689 posts for ‘adhoc’ primary teachers.
The organization issued a copy of a representation addressed to the department’s director on Saturday.“We would like to draw your kind attention to the fact that against Dimapur district the total availability of primary teacher post is shown as 55. However, surprisingly, all the said 55 post are shown exclusively reserved for only one particular tribe, i.e. Angami. Whereas, the entire tribes are settled with recognized GPS in their own colony/village/area etc., in Dimapur district,” the students’ union said.
The organization demanded clarifications from the director at this curious aspect of the advertisement, and whether or not it was “published intentionally or inadvertently.”
“If the same was published intentionally we would like to know on what basis 55 post of primary teachers as against Dimapur district have been exclusively reserved for only one particular tribe,” the WSSU demanded. “If the same was published inadvertently whether any corrigendum has been issued in the form of press release,” the WSSU stated.
The organization has given the school education department to respond on or before February 13. Failing to do as demanded, WSSU warned that the department would be ‘held solely responsible for any untoward incident.’
