DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has said that with numerous lives lost and a significant number of individuals affected by dengue, the situation has become extremely alarming.
“The impact it has had on our citizens is distressing, and it is imperative that prompt action be taken to prevent further loss of life and mitigate the spread of this outbreak,” a press note from the hoho read.
Imploring immediate steps to address the crisis, it suggested that the department launch an extensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens about dengue fever, its symptoms, and preventative measures, involving media advertisements, educational pamphlets, and community meetings.

Allocating additional medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, to hospitals and clinics in the affected areas would help manage the growing number of dengue patients and provide timely treatment, it said, adding that the department should also ensure that hospitals and clinics have a sufficient supply of necessary equipment, medication, and resources to effectively treat patients.
The hoho also suggested that the department implement a robust surveillance system to track and analyse the spread of dengue fever, claiming that this would aid in understanding the dynamics of the outbreak, identifying high-risk areas, and developing appropriate strategies to contain the disease.
It assured that it is ready to lend its support and collaborate with the department in this endeavour.
