DIMAPUR — The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) commended the department concerned for their “proactive efforts in monitoring and maintaining the Niuland to Kohima (via Ghotovi-Zhadima) road, ensuring a safe and smooth journey for travellers”.
In a press statement, the WSH, while lauding the prompt response to the current situation, requested the department to continue closely monitoring the situation 24×7, given the road’s critical importance as a vital alternative route to the state capital.
Furthermore, the WSH wholeheartedly supported the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland’s order to monitor anti-social activities along this route.
“We recognise the potential risks and challenges posed by increased traffic flow and commit to collaborating with village leaders, organisations, and authorities to ensure public safety and order,” it said, adding that it will work together to prevent traveller harassment and support swift action against individuals or groups causing public disorder.
WSH also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the six individuals who tragically lost their lives in the devastating landslide at Pherima on September 3.
“We mourn the immense loss they have suffered and urge the government to provide prompt and adequate compensation to the affected families, supporting them in their time of grief,” it concluded.
