The Western Sumi Hoho along with its frontal organisations including Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) and Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has resolved to reaffirm its support to the January 26 resolution of the Sumi Hoho and its frontal organisations with regards to the upcoming state assembly election in all the Sumi areas.
The resolution to this effect was taken during the meeting of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) and Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) on January 30 at the WSH Hiyam.
An update from the WSH president, Atomi Swu; president of WSKH, Vikuto Achumi; and president of WSYF, Mughavi Awomi, informed that the meeting deliberated on the need of the hour for the Sumis to regenerate transformative positive changes for the good and uplift of all the Sumi areas through the democratic process in the upcoming assembly election in the state. The resolutions are as follows:
1. The WSH, WSKH and the WSYF reaffirms the strong support to the January 26, 2023, resolution of the Sumi Hoho and its frontal organisations with regards to the 2023 assembly election which was widely circulated to all the Sumi areas.
2. As enshrined in the WSH constitution, no Sumi who has been elected, selected, or nominated to any position in any Sumi civil society organisations (NGO) is allowed to drag alongwith the platform of the organisation while exercising the individual right as a citizen to favour and vote for any party or candidate.
3. Buying and selling of vote is strictly prohibited. In the instance of any buying or selling of vote being caught, everyone is empowered to confiscate, and if any issue arises, to be reported to WSH Frontals.
4. Setting up of ‘youth camps’ in any village or colony is debarred. Meetings are allowed.
5. Intoxicant of any kind is debarred from being used or issued.
6. Use of loud speakers (sound systems) is debarred during election campaigning.
7. The above stated directives have been adopted as an enabling order for all the GBs, councils, and leaders of frontal branches at various level in Sumi villages and colonies to follow up in strict implementation for the good and uplift of all the Sumi areas.
8. All the church leaders in the mission centres, pastors and associated members of all Sumi churches are requested to participate through their prayers in the collective effort to bring about the much needed transformative changes in all the Sumi areas.
