Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Sameti), Nagaland, organised a trainers’ training programme on “Writing and documentation skills for extension functionaries” at Sameti, Medziphema, for ATMA Block Technology Managers (BTM) on March 28 and 29.
The training was aimed at grooming ATMA functionaries from all districts with technical writing and documentation skills so that they can write standard farm publications and success stories, which in turn will serve as a record of the accomplishments at the grassroots level for the government both in the state and central levels, stated a press release issued by director of Sameti, Medziphema.
Detailed theoretical and practical sessions on basic communication and documentation of activity reports/ report writing; basic features of writing success stories; writing for farm publications; and preparing write ups for press releases to be circulated in the local dailies were given during the programme. The trainees also received basic training on photography for documentation included tips and tricks in photography, understanding and use of different types of lenses, basic knowledge on handling camera both indoor/outdoor locations for formal occasions such as demonstrations, meetings, trainings etc. from J Akato Chishi.
Dr. Beremjungla, In-charge of Bio-Control Laboratory, Medziphema, congratulated the trainees on completing a very important training with much enthusiasm during the valedictory function. She also encouraged them to use the knowledge imparted by the resource persons and spread the ideas to their colleagues in their respective districts.
The resource persons of the training programme were Dr. NK Patra, assistant professor; Dr. KK Jha, professor and head department of agricultural extension; Dr. J Longkumer, associate professor, department of agricultural extension; and J Akato Chishi, senior technical assistant, department of entomology, NU SASRD, Medziphema Campus.
According to Sameti, a good number of people from all districts of the state participated in the training programme, and the trainees were given certificates and training handouts.
