WRITERS are lonely people and they need encouragement. This is what Dr Lanusangla Tzudir, proprietor, Heritage Publishing House said during a book releasing programme.
However, ‘writing at its best is lonely life’ is Ernest Hemingway’s tip to writers.Anayway, here is a lonely man who spends his time writing. He is none other than Inovi Awomi, an economics teacher of Christian Higher Secondary, Dimapur. Earlier, he has written a book titled ‘Life goes on’.
His second book, a novel, titled – ‘Orchid of the Dark Forest’ was launched on Friday at Hotel Saramati by Bokali Haralu, chaplain, Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
Speaking at the book launching programme, Inovi Awomi apologitically said he could not relate the actual incident in his bid to revive the Naga folklore. “However,” he said, “My story revolves round a tragic love story during 1960s when clanism was so distinct among the Naga tribals.”
The intro of the book reads – ‘A tragic story in the early 1960s; disputes among the two clans (Xi and Xu) and the hatred between the two lover’s families in Hoishe village. A womean once known for her beauty has to pass on the legacy in order to join her ancestral star which she did with the charm of a wild orchid. But the legacy ends tragically in the orchid valley of the dark forest and then the dark song was never heard. The charm of an orchid failed to uphold two lovers but brought light in the dark forest. And to this day, the charm of an orchid still remains as taboo.”
Nevertheless, all good books are alike and that they are truer if they had really happened and after you finished reading one, you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards, it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was. If you can get so that you can give that to people, then you are a writer.
And Awomi as described by editor of his novel, Ms Renbeni Kithan as – “A versatile and persistand writer” has set an example again that lonely writers tells the best stories.
