[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n many countries, Teachers’ Days (or Teachers Day) are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general. The date on which Teachers’ day is celebrated varies from country to country. Teachers’ days are distinct from World Teachers’ Day which is officially celebrated across the world on October 5. Australia celebrates Teachers Day on the last Friday of October while Bnrazil already celebrated on October 15.The idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day took ground independently in many countries during the 20th century; in most cases, they celebrate a local educator or an important milestone in education (for example, Argentina commemorates Domingo Faustino Sarmiento’s death on September 11 since 1915, while India celebrates Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday on September 5 since 1962). This is the primary reason why countries celebrate this day on different dates, unlike many other International Days.
Celebrating teachers’ day is merely symbolic. Teaching your children and your younger siblings takes a life time and how they grow up is how you teach them. Everyone is a product of his/her time. Fashions, ideas change with time and the world today lives in one of the finest periods of history. It also exists during one of the most perilous times what with all the advanced technology when scientists have even theoretically envisioned that men and women would be sent to Mars and beyond. In the late 1989, Voyager I left the solar system and followed by Voyager II recently.
However, the threat of nuclear warfare is always lurking in the minds of leaders. Even comparatively poor countries like India and Pakistan as also China are now nuclear. Iran is also fiddling with its nuclear arsenal ostensibly for peaceful purposes but the threat remains.
It is in this context that teachings by whatsoever religion for peace and fraternity gains importance. And yet, the Christian Bible has prophesied that there would be the Mother of all wars notably Armageddon when the forces of good and evil will have a great war—the outcome has also been prophesied.
There are some people who have claimed that the anti-Christ is already born into a prominent and rich family and surely some people already existing will know of his rule over the earth and face the brunt if evil for seven years prior to Armageddon.
What options do we humans have? According to Solomon, the wise King, “The best thing that a man can do is to eat and drink and enjoy what he has earned. And yet, I realized that even this comes from God (Ecclesiastes 2:24). So live according to the precepts of one’s religion so that we might attain salvation. For that follow what your teacher teaches you. For Christians, the greatest teacher is Jesus Christ.
