World Students’ Day observed across the state

Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authority observed World Students’ Day in the District legal Services Authorities (DLSA) focusing on Right to Education Act to achieve quality and inclusive accessible education with legal literacy clubs, law students, schools, colleges.

An update from DIPR informed that it was held as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Legal Services Week on October 15.

It stated that Phek DLSA organised a programme at Phek Government College. Neiwe Mero, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, PGC spoke on the significance of the day while Thomeweu, Panel lawyer, Phek DLSA, spoke on ‘Right to Education Act, 2019. 40 students attended the programme. Dimapur DLSA awareness was held in City Law College, Dimapur wherein panel lawyer Moatila Ao spoke on the Right to Education Act and Principal, CLC Leonard Aier delivered the welcome note. 30 students attended the programme.

Zunheboto DLSA observed World Students Day with Legal Literacy Club of St. Anthony School at St. Peter Hostel, Amphoto Colony. Tovi Z Yeptho, Project Assistant emphasised on Right to Education and other basic legal rights and laws, it read.

Wokha DLSA conducted an awareness programme and speech competition with Government High School Wozhuro and Green Valley School, Wozhuro. Para Legal Volunteer Zujano Kikon spoke on Right to Education, Health and Family Welfare Schemes. Tumchobeni Km, Green Valley School, Soyingro Khuvung, Green Valley School, and Lideno Ngullie Government High School Wozhuro were adjudged as the winners, it informed.

Meanwhile, Tuensang DLSA organised a programme at Government Primary School station ‘B’ Shamator. PLV Tsurito spoke on Right to Education. The programme was organised by PLV Thsangtong and Tsurito and Kihomong teacher GPS delivered the welcome address. All together, 35 individuals attended the programme.

Kohima DLSA celebrated World Student Day at Kohima Law College, Kohima. Vimeno highlighted the objectives and provision of Right to Education Act. Toshi O Longkumer, Advocate, Guwahati High Court, Kohima bench shared on Professional Ethics and Art of Advocacy. He encouraged the students to uphold the essence of legal profession and to act in dignified manner. Atila Pongen, Panel lawyer also emphasised on legal services activities.

Mokokchung DLSA held a programme with Mokokchung Law College and also held an event for revamping the MLC legal services clinic. Para legal volunteers of the college were assigned for manning the said clinic. A beautification drive around the college campus by planting flowers and trees was also held, it added.
