The week-long World Population Day campaign under the National Health Mission concluded in Mon district.
DIMAPUR — The week-long World Population Day campaign in Mon district concluded on Saturday.
Organised by the District Programme Management Unit (DPMU), National Health Mission (NHM), Mon, the campaign was held on the theme "Healthy timing and spacing between pregnancies for the well-being of mother and child and to prevent unintended pregnancies".
According to an update, it focused on creating awareness about family planning, promoting healthy birth spacing, and ensuring the availability of quality family planning services to eligible beneficiaries.
The campaign was officially launched on July 11 by the DPMU, NHM Mon. Following the inaugural programme, Moie Bonnie Konyak orientated health personnel from all the blocks on the implementation strategy for the weeklong campaign.
Health workers were instructed to intensify community sensitisation, pre-register beneficiaries, and mobilise eligible couples to avail family planning services in their respective areas.

Throughout the campaign, intensive information, education and communication (IEC) activities were conducted by ASHAs and ASHA coordinators through focused group discussions and interpersonal communication sessions, reaching approximately 220 eligible mothers across the district.
In addition, Mission Parivar Vikas - SAARTHI Awareness on Wheels traversed various villages to spread awareness on the importance of healthy timing and spacing between pregnancies and to educate communities on the basket of choices available under the National Family Planning Programme.
A wide range of family planning services were provided during the campaign, including IUCD (Cu-T) insertions, Antara injectable contraceptives, and the distribution of various contraceptive methods such as condoms, oral contraceptive pills, and emergency contraceptive pills.
The campaign recorded 367 IUCD (Cu-T) insertions, 233 Antara injectable contraceptives administered, and a substantial distribution of various contraceptives to eligible beneficiaries across the district.
