World Mental Health Day observed in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — The District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Zunheboto marked World Mental Health Day on Tuesday at the District Hospital Zunheboto conference hall with a programme emphasising the importance of mental health in the workplace.
The event was chaired by Khruvotolu Nyekha, a psychiatric social worker with DMHP, according to a press release.
Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, Lovitoli Awomi, a counselling psychologist and founder of the LAPIYE Centre for Mental Well-being, spoke to the audience about the mental health challenges posed by anxiety and depression.
Atolimi I. Khuzhumi, a clinical psychologist at DMHP, discussed the programme’s ongoing efforts, revealing that there are currently 135 clients receiving support in the Zunheboto district.
She also mentioned outreach initiatives, including visits to five schools in the area, aimed at raising awareness and providing mental health resources.
This year’s theme was “It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace.”
