World Day against Child Labour observed at Assisi, In Dimapur

Dimapur, June 24 (EMN): The National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM), a child rights movement of Nagaland region, in collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development observed World Day against Child Labour on June 22.

NDWM Coordinator Sr. Pramila Lobo said that this year’s theme is “Protect children from Child Labour, Now more than ever” and highlighted the significance of the day, an update stated on Wednesday.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the economy and labour has been greatly affected, so the crisis can push more children into child labour. Children may be forced to quit school and continue to work either in the garage or as domestic workers,” she said.

Stressing on online classes that is going on due to lockdown, Sr. Mary Dukru enlightened the participants on the advantages and disadvantages of mobile use and advised the students to use it to their advantage but not become ‘the slave to the gadget.’

Toka enlightened the children on Covid-19 safety measures and protection of children from sexual offences, it read.

The programme ended by distributing food relief to 53 CRM children.
