World Bio Fuel Day observed in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 14 (EMN): The National Yuva Cooperative society (NYCS) celebrated the World Bio Fuel Day on the August 12 at Town Hall, Dimapur, with Additional Chief Secretary (Retd), H.K. Khulu as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said India after independence has made tremendous growth in the field of information technology, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors and has become the world’s fastest growing economy.
Now, he said India is working for sustainable energy solutions or bio fuels and efficient technologies to meet the growing demand of energy consumption which has doubled and the potential for rapid growth is enormous.
Khulu also mentioned that Government of India and the ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has formed a working group on bio fuels to draft sustainable policy for energy security of the country, he informed .
He appreciated the NYCS in extending its full support and actively creating awareness on bio fuel in association with the Ministry of Oil Corporation like the HPCL, BPCL and IOCL. He congratulated Rajesh Pande and his team for the initiative and appealed to all to make it a peoples’ movement and make it a big success.
Resource person, Er Kiyeto Shohe, Power Department, explained that bio fuel is produced through biological process such as agriculture, food waste recycling, farm waste and sewage sludge. Bioethanol is an an alcohol made by fermentation from the carbohydrates produced in sugar or starch crops such as corn and sugarcane and is used as fuel for vehicles and it also improves vehicle emissions as it does not create air pollutions and green diesel is produced through oil feedstock such as vegetable oil and animal fats, he said.
