Workshop on Lotha language development held at Mt. Tiyi College
DIMAPUR — The Lotha Academy Literature Committee organised the second edition of ‘Lotha language development’ workshop for the Lotha/MIL subject teachers with an aim to equip and enable them to cope with the changes, challenges and complexities in the field of education
Organised in collaboration with Mt. Tiyi College Wokha on May 6, the topic of the workshop was presented by Fr. Abraham Lotha, who is also the president of the Lotha Academy.
A thorough research and analysis with scientific approach to the Lotha alphabets, phonetics, spelling patterns, alternative spelling patterns, vowels, consonants, its usage applicability etc., were highlighted through visuals and documents.
Benri Ezung, programme executive, All India Radio (AIR) along with Chopathung Humtsoe also presented an item on the topic ‘Folksong Tutelage” with a reading of sonnets, lyrical ballets and poetry in blank verse.

More than 50 Lotha MIL teachers from both private and government schools, language experts, few Lotha language researchers under Nagaland University and some prominent members of the Lotha community also attended the workshop.
The programme started with invoking God’s presence by Rev. Dr. L L Kikon, welcome speech was delivered by Sentimenla Jamir, Principal, Mt. Tiyi College and Thungjamo Tsanglao, Chairman, Lotha Literature Committee closed the curtain with a vote of thanks.
