Workshop on inclusive teaching strategies underway
DIMAPUR — A three-day workshop on inclusive teaching strategies, jointly organised by the Department of School Education, ChangeInkk Foundation and Durham University, UK, got underway on Wednesday at the Morung conference hall of the Directorate of School Education in Kohima.
The workshop, led by international expert facilitator and assistant professor of School of Education at Durham University, UK, Dr. Johny Daniel, focused on equipping educators with the skills needed to create inclusive classrooms, particularly for students with language learning difficulties and specific learning disabilities (SLD), stated an update from the department.
Thavaseelan K, principal director of School Education, delivered the keynote address.
The programme also saw participation of officials from Samagra Shiksha, department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and SCERT- ECCE Cell team.
Sayantani Gaddam, senior fellow of policy program and governance at ChangeInkk Foundation, delivered the welcome address, while Mughato Swu moderated the session.
Altogether, 50 selected teachers from government and private schools in Kohima are participating in the workshop.
