Workshop on climate change held for Manipur journalists

Imphal, Aug.29 (EMN): The first state- level workshop for the newly selected media fellowship award recipients of the state on climate change reporting was held at the conference hall of Directorate of environment and climate change in Imphal on Monday.
The workshop, which was held on the theme Climate Resilient Land Resource Management in Manipur, was organised by the Media Resource Centre of the Directorate of Environment and climate change.
In the day’s workshop, Prof. N Deva Singh of Department of Geography, Manipur University delivered a lecture on ‘Land Resource Management and Urbanisation’ while scientist A Ningthoujam Gaganchand Singh of Manipur Remote Sensing Applications Centre gave a presentation on ‘Changes in Land use pattern in Manipur –An overview’.
Joint Director Dr. T Brajakumar Singh of Directorate of environment and Climate Change, Editor and author Pradip Phanjoubam, Editor Khogendra Khomdram of Sangai Express, Environmentalist Salam Rajesh besides all the selected media fellowship award recipients participated in the day’s workshop.
It may be mentioned that the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change started the annual state level media fellowship on climate change reporting since 2019 onwards for journalists of the state to sensitise the media persons on issues of human pressure environment and climate change, thereby enabling media to disseminate factual information on climate change to masses. This initiative is the first of its kind among the 12 himalayan mountain states.
