Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN):
The Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) and National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM) Nagaland Region organised an awareness programme on child-related issues and the rights of the children at Assisi Auditorium in Dimapur on Friday.

Sr. Geeta highlighted the importance of the day in her welcome address, while Sr. Pramila, director of ACID and coordinator of NDWM, explained to Child Right Movement (CRM) members about the importance of child participation and child protection, an update from Assisi Centre informed.

Keyiteirai, a field work student from North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), explained various types of rights to the children, while Nyangpong, also from the same institute, enlightened them on gender discrimination that exists in the society. He also encouraged CRM and National Child Labour Project (NCLP) children to grow with positive attitude and respect each other; and that “every girl child has equal rights and opportunities like male child.”

Vanbeni (NEISSR) spoke on moral and social values besides spiritual growth, while Toisha (also from the same institute) spoke on the importance of education.

About 170 people participated in the programme.
