Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): A two-day district workshop on measles rubella (MR) case based surveillance transitioning and adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) was held on December 6 and 7 at IDSP conference hall, IMDH, Mokochung.
A press release from office of the chief medical officer (CMO) stated that the workshop was conducted with the aim to build capacity of the participants on the technical aspect and operational guidelines of case based MR surveillance and to generate awareness on epidemiological aspect of measles and rubella/ congenital rubella syndrome. It was also organised to orient the health workers on various implementation process of case based MR surveillance in their respective areas and also build capacity on supervision and monitoring of MR surveillance system and the basic of AEFI surveillance, reporting and recording and AEFI cases, investigation and sample collection, causality assessment, roles of district committees, district response teams and various safety communication.
Dr. Kibangkumba, deputy CMO, has thanked the efforts of health workers for the success of MR vaccination campaign. He also thanked social welfare and education departments for their support during the campaign.
Dr. Temsuyanger, DIO (RCH& UIP), made power point presentation on the role of AEFI committee, operational aspects of AEFI surveillance, roles and responsibilities.
Dr. Ushma from World Health Organisation was the resource persons of the two-day workshop.
