Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): A one-day workshop and hands-on training for Angikaar Resource Persons (ARP) under PMAY- HFA was held in the DC’s conference hall, Longleng on September 16.

An update from DPRO, Longleng, informed that EAC HQ. Ihoilung Chuilo appealed to the Angikaar Resource Persons to make the best use of the training programme and asserted that the success of the Angikaar programme will largely depend on them.

Chuilo told the gathering that it their primary duty to make best use of government’s welfare programmes as responsible citizens of the country. He also urged the ARPs to educate the beneficiaries and citizens in the best possible way.

Anghato, SLTC,PMAY-HFA, delivered the keynote address while SBM – Waste Management was proposed by Hangti, LTC;  district coordinator on Ayushman Bharat spoke on Ayushman Bharat; Yangnya CLTC, PMAY-HFA spoke on Angikaar Module Registration and validation of ARP; and Yongya spoke on hands-on training.

It may be noted that Angikaar is an awareness campaign for social behaviour change management with focus on issues such as water and energy conservation, waste management, sanitation and hygiene for beneficiaries of complete houses under PMAT (U) through community mobilisation and IEC activities.

The objectives of the Angikaar are to create awareness to conserve and maintain basic amenities such as electricity, water, sanitation and solid waste management. It encourages to adopt best practices for sustainable environment through rain water harvesting, solar lighting, tree plantation, etc.

The activities of the Angikaar will include door-to-door campaign by the ARP; ward-level activities like street play, puppet shows, vehicle announcements, awareness in schools through competitions, workshops, etc.; and various events by PMAY (U) beneficiaries from October 2 to December 10, 2019.
